Walter Lee
A musician in the truest sense of the word, Walter Lee found his artistic voice through house music. As multi-instrumentalist, Walter originally played in rock, punk, and ska bands before discovering house. Now able to combine a wide range of his influences through digital production and mixing, he has a style that rhythmically exemplifies his personality of joy, passion, inquisitiveness, and boundless energy.
Growing up in the Southwest during the early 90’s, there was limited exposure to the global electronic music scene that was exploding in larger cities. A stint in the Navy took Walter around the world and he spend extended periods in the Bay Area and Seattle, all the time playing in bands and going on leave to discover music in clubs. It was during this time that fueled much of his interest in DJing and upon returning to New Mexico to complete a degree in engineering, he was drawn to mixing records as means to share his love of dance music and performance. Within his first year as DJ, he became a fixture of the Southwest club circuit.
After finishing his degree, he relocated to Humboldt County, CA where he took on extra duties as a DJ starting a mobile DJ service, Scott’s Audio, and becoming a core member of Arcata’s talented and hardworking Deep Groove Society. Walter’s new crew and business simultaneously pushed him to play at a higher caliber, stretching his skills a DJ in both directions: playing alongside more experienced and educated underground DJs and also being able to accommodate his clients at weddings and special events. Now based out of San Francisco, with hundreds of gigs under his belt, Walter has focused his attention on producing his own records. It’s an exciting time as Walter has steadily been amassing original tracks that are yet to be shared with a larger global audience. Big things are on the horizon.
