THE MIDDLE AGENT aka SNAKE RESCUE aka SMOKE & TREES:
Originally from Southern California, In the year 2000 I migrated to beautiful Humboldt County and have been a Northern California local since. After working all summer at In-N Out Burger I was able to buy my first pair of turntables and start spinning vinyl in my bedroom at the age of 16. As a veteran DJ and one of the original members/co-founders of DeepGrooveSociety, I’ve been rocking the decks and dancefloors of the west coast for almost 20 years.
Although hip-hop was my first love, It was the way that house music brought people together regardless of race, religion, age, or social status, that drew me to the underground L.A. house and techno music scene. The way that quality house music and tasteful DJ’s could create a space where people felt free to move and exist while transcending their own social and emotional boundaries along with the universal history of tribal ceremony, is what drew me to the scene. The influence from Funk, hip-hop, technology, Native American and African culture, disco, jazz, and soul, is what drew me to the music. From my first experiences with the dance floor and DJ’s, the basic tenants of PLUR were embraced by everyone around me, all I wanted was to be capable of cultivating that same level of positivity for others. Essentially, I wanted to create an environment for others to feel what I had felt, and I knew that my place would be as a DJ, Promoter, and Producer of electronic music.
Flash forward to the present and here I am, still playing music that brings people together and cultivating dance floors that expand consciousness beyond expectations. From light to dark, deep to big room, funky and techno, all forms of house music are explored and blended. Along with Drum n Bass, experimental soundscapes, balanced juxtaposition, and memorable emotion; an intellectual and emotional experience is what I strive to expertly juggle. As The Middle Agent, I consider myself both a catalyst and a fulcrum in an ongoing effort to maintain balance, whether on the dance floor, behind the decks, in the studio, or in my personal life.
